On the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji’s birthday, celebrated as Seva Pakhwada, Delhi Education Minister Shri Ashish Sood inaugurated the first NIPUN Shala at Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya No. 1, C-Block, Janakpuri under the NIPUN Sankalp Yojana. The event was hosted by Rotary Club of Shahdara, Delhi in the presence of Club President Mr. Mukesh Singhal and District Governor Rtn. Amita Mohindru.

The NIPUN Shala aims to improve Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) among students of Classes 1–8. Rotary Shahdara’s support reflects its ongoing commitment to grassroots educational development.

Shri Sood also flagged off the NaMo Sugamya Rath and launched the Sugamya Delhi Yatra (West Zone) — initiatives promoting accessibility for senior citizens and persons with disabilities. He announced the appointment of Purple Ambassadors to ensure inclusive public spaces.

Highlighting Delhi’s educational reforms, Shri Sood shared plans to transform all government schools into Smart Schools with smart classrooms, Chromebooks, and AI integration within five years. Over 21,000 classrooms are already upgraded.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to restoring public trust in government schools and delivering real learning outcomes, not just infrastructure.

“Rotary Shahdara is proud to support initiatives that strengthen foundational learning and create inclusive, future-ready schools,” said Rtn. Mr. Mukesh singhal, Club President.
